5 Smartphone battery Myths that needs to Die

Some people still believe on the limitations of nickel-based batteries that were prevalent in the early ’90s these days. With the more modern lithium ion and lithium polymer base, these limitations were just a thing in the past.

Here are some common battery myths.

Myth: Overnight charging is bad.

Fact: There’s no such thing as “overcharging” nowadays, or at least. Most smartphone , laptop, accessory and AA or AAA chargers are smart enough to momentarily stop charging once the device is fully charged. That’s why  they’re called smartphones in the first place!

Myth: Completely drain the battery before you charge it again.

Fact: Charge your device’s lithium-ion battery whenever you want. There’s no need to let it discharge 100% before recharging. Lithium-ion batteries work in charge cycles.

Myth: Putting your batteries in the refrigerator may prolong its life

Face: That is very bad. Doing this can have dangerous consequences. Extreme temperatures – hot or cold and especially for long periods of time – are not good for any type of battery.

Myth: New phones need to be fully change before use.

Fact: You can use your newly purchased phone whenever wherever you want. Your phone already has some charge, and skipping that first charge won’t affect its life long-term.

Myth: You shouldn’t use your phone while charging.

Fact: Whilst it’s true that your device is very warm as you charge it, that’s because obviously it takes electric current. But it it really isn’t affecting it whenever you use it as you charge.
